Non-Surgical Interventions
- 1. Requesting necessary lab tests based on the patient’s underlying conditions, monitoring and managing any abnormalities, and avoiding unnecessary tests without clinical indications.
- 2. Ordering and interpreting required imaging studies.
- 3. Managing fluid and electrolyte balance and providing intravenous therapy based on the patient’s underlying condition.
- 4. Requesting arterial and venous blood gas analysis and treating metabolic and respiratory acidosis or alkalosis.
- 5. Adjusting ventilator settings and modes as needed.
- 6. Performing intubation (endotracheal tube placement), initiating NIV and BIPAP, and adjusting their settings.
- 7. Administering sedatives and analgesics tailored to the patient’s underlying conditions.
- 8. Prescribing antibiotics and ordering blood, urine, and secretion cultures.
- 9. Daily assessment and management of pressure ulcers or other wounds during hospitalization.
- 10. Prescribing anticoagulants to prevent embolic events.
- 11. Prescribing medications to prevent gastrointestinal ulcers.
- 12. Ordering and supervising respiratory and physical physiotherapy during the hospital stay.
- 13. Requesting and supervising patients’ use of incentive spirometry.
- 14. Calculating daily caloric needs, including protein and fat requirements per kilogram of body weight, and initiating nutritional support with trace elements via NG tube or intravenous feeding( total or partial parenteral nutrition)
Surgical and Paraclinical Interventions
- 1. Central venous line placement.
- 2. Dialysis catheter placement.
- 3. Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy.
- 4. Placement of pleural catheters under ultrasound guidance.
- 5. FAST abdominal ultrasound and pleural ultrasound.
- 6. Lower limb ultrasound for the detection of acute or chronic venous thrombosis.
- 7. Critical care echocardiography.
